Recording and mixing of the second album by Stand-Up Guy has been completed, and the artwork for the CD is now well on its way to being completed.  Titled "Avenue Unawares" the album contains 9 beautifully crafted songs and brilliantly produced by Frankie McClay at Einstein Studios.  A launch gig date has been set for June 2nd in The Limelight, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast.  Some very special guests will be in attendance that day, so stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, Stand-Up Guy will be playing the following shows, having at last escaped the confines of the studio!.

Stand-Up Guy will be entering Einstein Studios, Antrim, on January 12th 2007 to record our second full-length offering with Distortion Project Records. With Frankie McClay at the helm they are extremely eager and excited to be working with such an experienced and dedicated engineer. The new material has been crafted and shaped for the past year and a half and they are ready to record what they strongly believe to be their most accomplished work to date.

Global Domination zine review of "In Fixation, Conspire"

"The bizarre recent popularity of doom, as Sunn0)) languish in fashion mag spreads, has led to certain misunderstandings as far as what constitutes a worthy doom outfit.  Foremost, however, is a particular intent, regardless of how slowly you play yer riffs.  Thankfully, Glasgow's Black Sun have few worries on this score.

Black Sun were formed from the ashes of Macrocosmica, and underrated outfit who blended Sabbathy weight with Sonic Youth slight-of-hand to virtually no popular acclaim whatsoever.  Yet you wouldn't necessarily guess from listening to 'Sacred Eternal Eclipse', being an album  rooted in decidedly more avant and inhospitable territory, namely the first Khanate album's appropriation of the Swan's nihilistic torment and sonic squalor.  Yet despite this (and even besides then roping in James Plotkin to master this effort) they're is no mere tribute act.  BS' attack is fierce enough to bear true hallmarks of sulphuric sincerity, not to mention a hint of the acidic lunacy of mid-period Today is the Day, and the slow-motion apocalypse-manifestos of Neurosis.

More importantly though, 'Sacred...', replete with moments of jagged discordance and eerie noise, has a certain skewed artistry to its venomous attack, as well as a grasp of creepy dynamics, thus making it a truly haunting and bracing blast of dystopian malice.  In this era of fairweather miserabilists, Black Sun are in for the gloomy long haul.  Pack an Umbrella.
